THE THIRSTY CROW
Long ago, there lived a crow in a jungle.
Once he was very thirsty and wanted to drink water. He flew around in search of water. At last, he came
flying over a village. He looked for water here and there.
Finally he saw a jug, but there was no water. Then he saw a pitcher, there
was some water in it at the bottom. The crow tried to reach the water, but
couldn’t succeed. It was a very hot day and the crow felt very disappointed.
The crow began to think how to drink the water from the pitcher. Finally he
got an idea. There were some pebbles on the road nearby. The crow kept
on picking up and dropping the pebble down into the pitcher. The water
came up little by little.
So he dropped more pebbles in the pitcher till the water level was high
enough for his beak to touch it. Then the thirsty crow happily drank the
water and flew away.
